About
Buscabulla are a Puerto Rican duo based out of New York who blend tropical synth pop, electro Caribbean grooves, and experimental textures into something genuinely their own. Luis Alfredo Del Valle and Raquel Berrios pull from salsa, reggaeton, bachata, merengue, and calypso without sounding like they are ticking boxes. Their debut EP was produced by Dev Hynes and released on Kitsuné, which put them on the map early. Rolling Stone named them one of 10 new artists to know in 2017. Their full length album Regresa, released in 2020 on Ribbon Music, is the record they are most celebrated for. Sparked by their move back to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, it wrestles with grief, rage, and stubborn hope all at once. Pitchfork called it joyful and melancholic, NPR described it as swoonily alluring and freighted with melancholy, and it landed at number 21 on NPR's 50 best albums of 2020. Features from Nick Hakim, Helado Negro, and Puerto Rican legend Nydia Caro make it feel like a genuine homecoming.
