About

Calibro 35 built their whole sound around the gritty funk and jazz of 1970s Italian crime films, and somehow turned that niche obsession into a globally sampled catalogue. Formed in Milan in 2007, they started by re recording obscure Poliziottesco soundtracks from composers like Ennio Morricone and Luis Bacalov, then quickly moved into writing original material that felt just as cinematic. Their reach became clear when Dr. Dre sampled them on his Compton album and Jay Z pulled a track for "Picasso Baby". One of their songs even landed in the end credits of the Bruce Willis film Red. Over the years they've scored TV series, feature films, and documentaries, released a two volume tribute to Morricone called Scacco al Maestro, and performed at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics at the Verona Arena.
