About
Calum Stewart plays uilleann pipes, wooden flute and low whistle, rooting his sound firmly in the traditional music of northern Scotland while drawing freely from Irish tradition too. That combination gives him a distinct voice, one that has taken him from collaborative duo records to concert stages with the London Philharmonic and London Symphony orchestras, and sessions alongside Nitin Sawhney. Since 2014 he has been a touring member of Angelo Kelly's band, appearing on the Irish Christmas and Irish Summer tours and contributing to both the Irish Christmas (2016) and Irish Heart (2018) studio albums. His own catalogue runs from Earlywood in 2008 through Tales from the North (2017) to True North (2023), and his long running partnership with Breton guitarist Heikki Bourgault has produced two albums of its own.
