Caroline Polachek built her name as a co founder of Brooklyn indie pop act Chairlift, whose track "Bruises" became a sleeper hit after Apple licensed it for an iPod Nano ad. She also directed several of the band's music videos and co wrote their second album Something. While Chairlift was still active, she found time for solo projects under two aliases: pastoral electronic music as Ramona Lisa, and more experimental work as CEP. When Chairlift split in 2017, she stepped fully into her own name and dropped Pang in 2019, a sharp avant pop record that turned heads critically and sent "So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings" viral. Her 2023 follow up Desire, I Want To Turn Into You charted in multiple countries and landed a Grammy nomination. She has also written for Beyoncé and collaborated with Charli XCX, Blood Orange and Oneohtrix Point Never, among others.
