Case Oats bring an alternative country sound out of Chicago, built around fiddle, guitar, and the kind of live energy that earned them serious buzz at South by Southwest. The five piece, featuring vocalist Casey Walker, guitarist Max Subar, bassist Jason Ashworth, fiddle player Scott Daniel, and drummer Spencer Tweedy, turned heads enough to land a deal with Merge Records in March 2025. Their debut album Last Missouri Exit dropped in August 2025 through the label, announced alongside the single Bitter Root Lake. It is a notable first move for a band that honed their craft playing venues across Chicago before stepping onto a much bigger stage.
