About
Cecile Believe is the project of Montreal based musician Caila Thompson Hannant, who spent years building her craft before landing one of hyperpop's most coveted co writing credits. Working closely with the producer Sophie, she contributed vocals and co wrote tracks on the landmark 2018 album Oil Of Every Pearl's Un Insides, taking lead on singles like "Ponyboy" and "Faceshopping" and lending backing vocals to "It's Okay To Cry". That run of collaborations helped establish her as a sharp creative presence well beyond her solo work. Under the Cecile Believe name, she released her debut album Made In Heaven in 2020, writing, producing and performing the whole thing herself. Later that same year she dropped the mixtape Plucking a Cherry from the Void, which brought in PC Music founder A. G. Cook for a couple of tracks. She has since kept busy remixing artists like Magdalena Bay and Say Lou Lou, and working alongside Shygirl, Hannah Diamond and Dorian Electra on their respective projects.
