About
Charles Wesley Godwin writes the kind of country that feels rooted in real place and real people. Born and raised in West Virginia, his sound draws on the storytelling tradition of Kris Kristofferson, John Prine, and Ryan Bingham, and that influence shows in how he builds songs around specific lives rather than generic emotion. His 2021 record How the Mighty Fall leaned into other people's stories rather than his own, and his 2023 major label debut Family Ties went deep on the personal, with individual tracks addressed to his father, wife, son, and daughter. That same year he landed a spot on The Hunger Games film soundtrack with 'Winter's Come and Gone'. He also co wrote and toured with Zach Bryan, appearing on Bryan's song 'Jamie'. His 2025 EP Lonely Mountain Town marks his first non live studio EP, showing he keeps pushing the work forward.
