About
Also known as: Charley Crockett & OurVinyl
Charley Crockett has put out a remarkable 23 projects, including 17 studio albums, since 2014, which is a pace that most artists would struggle to match. His sound pulls from traditional country, honky tonk, hill country blues, and outlaw country, all filtered through a distinctly Texan sensibility and a clipped, hiccuped drawl that feels genuinely lived in. Four of his records, The Man from Waco, $10 Cowboy, Lonesome Drifter, and Dollar a Day, broke into the Billboard 200 across 2022 to 2025, a real sign that his audience has grown well beyond the underground. He started out as a street busker, playing New Orleans' French Quarter and Dallas' Deep Ellum before riding freight trains and hitchhiking across the country, eventually busking in New York City and even Paris. That wandering life shaped everything about his music. His 2018 album Lonesome as a Shadow, recorded at the legendary Sam C. Phillips studio in Memphis and produced by Matt Ross Spang, is a strong place to start, and his most recent visualizer release Crucified Son in 2025 shows he has no plans to slow down.
