About
Chris Murphy is the bassist and one of the two main singers in Sloan, the Canadian band he co founded with Jay Ferguson. He takes lead on roughly 40 percent of their songs and sings backup on most of the rest, and he has written several of their singles, including "Underwhelmed", "Coax Me" and "The Rest of My Life". He sometimes swaps the bass for drums or guitar. Outside Sloan, he keeps busy. He drummed for The Super Friendz while Sloan was on hiatus, hosted a CBC Radio 3 show with Ferguson, and worked as a music performance supervisor on Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, coaching the cast to play their instruments convincingly. He has also popped up in a string of supergroups: The Certain Someones, Tuns, Trans Canada Highwaymen with members of Barenaked Ladies, Odds and The Pursuit of Happiness, and Anyway Gang with Sam Roberts. He even co produced a posthumous Matthew Grimson album with Joel Plaskett.
