About
Çilekeş, which roughly translates to 'Sufferer', is an Ankara born Turkish rock band that made a serious early impression by winning the Fanta sponsored contest Genç Yetenekler Aramızda in 2003, judged by notable Turkish artists Teoman and Levent Yüksel. That win sent them on a 17 city tour to an audience of around 350,000 people, all before they had even released a proper album. Their debut Y.O.K. came out in 2005, followed by Katil Dans in 2008, which featured a collaboration with Şebnem Ferah on the track Pervazda Tatil. Their third album Histeri Çalışmaları arrived in 2010 and was made available as a free download. The band went on indefinite hiatus in 2014 when members Karabudak and Şimşek shifted focus to their project Bubituzak, though the recent uploads of tracks from Y.O.K. suggest the music is still finding ears.
