Circa Survive

About

Circa Survive built their reputation on a sound that doesn't sit comfortably in any single box: the Philadelphia band blends emo, post hardcore and progressive rock into something atmospheric and genuinely odd in the best way. Their debut Juturna landed in 2005 with effects soaked dual guitar melodies riding over polyrhythmic drums, drawing on influences as far apart as King Crimson and Björk. It became a touchstone record for the post hardcore community. Their second album On Letting Go debuted at number 24 on the Billboard 200, and Blue Sky Noise in 2010 signaled a new chapter as they moved to Atlantic Records. Front man Anthony Green, previously the vocalist of Saosin, has always been the band's most recognizable element, and the group spent their later years on Sumerian and Hopeless Records with Descensus and The Amulet. After announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2022, Green confirmed in 2025 that the split was permanent, and he went on to join the supergroup L.S. Dunes.
