About
Also known as: Meredith Cody Jinks
Cody Jinks spent his early career fronting a Fort Worth thrash metal band called Unchecked Aggression, heavily influenced by Metallica and Pantera. When that chapter closed, he pivoted to the country music he grew up with, and the shift turned out to be a very good idea. Backed by The Tone Deaf Hippies, Jinks built a devoted following in the outlaw country and Texas country world, releasing music independently and on his own terms. His 2016 album I'm Not the Devil broke him wide open, debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and earning a spot on Rolling Stone's best country albums of the year. He followed that momentum with Lifers on Rounder Records, then went fully independent with After the Fire and The Wanting, releasing both in the same week in October 2019. In 2021 he dropped two albums at once again, including None the Wiser, a full metal record with his band Caned By Nod, proving the thrash days were never entirely behind him.
