Cody Johnson built his reputation the hard way, selling out shows and charting albums entirely on his own terms before a major label came calling. The Texas native blends contemporary country with a neo traditionalist edge, drawing from the likes of George Strait and Willie Nelson, and that rootsy authenticity helped Gotta Be Me debut at number two on the Country Albums chart in 2016 with zero major label backing. His Grand Ole Opry debut followed in 2017, and in 2018 he became the first independent artist to sell out the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Since signing with Warner Records Nashville, Johnson has stepped up in a big way. His song 'Til You Can't became his first country radio number one, earned him a Grammy for Best Country Song, and was certified six times Platinum. The follow up album Leather kept the momentum going, with the single The Painter hitting number one and going triple Platinum, and a high profile duet with Carrie Underwood called Dirt Cheap. Leather then won CMA Album of the Year in 2024, cementing CoJo as one of the most consistent forces in country music today.
