That voice is the first thing anyone notices about Colter Wall. The Saskatchewan native has a deep, gruff baritone that sounds like it belongs to someone twice his age, and he backs it up with narrative songwriting rooted in country, folk, and western traditions. His track "Sleeping on the Blacktop" has had a remarkable life of its own, turning up in films like Hell or High Water and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Yellowstone, and more recently in Netflix series like Kaos and Untamed. Wall got his break opening for Lucinda Williams at the Ryman Auditorium and was signed to Rick Rubin's American Songs publishing company. His self titled debut, produced by Dave Cobb at RCA Studio A in Nashville, set the tone, and he has kept building from there. By 2023 he had four albums to his name, with Little Songs arriving that July on La Honda Records. A fifth record, Memories and Empties, followed in late 2025, showing no signs of a slowdown in his output.
