Conan's sound hits like a wall of concrete: the Liverpool doom and sludge metal outfit have built their reputation on a ferociously downtuned, heavily distorted guitar tone that fans and critics have dubbed "caveman battle doom". Guitarist and vocalist Jon Davis founded the band in 2006, and over the years Conan have steadily grown into one of the heavier names in British metal, releasing albums through Napalm Records and, more recently, Heavy Psych Records. Their discography runs deep, from the early crawl of Monnos through Blood Eagle and Revengeance, right up to Existential Void Guardian and Evidence of Immortality. Their seventh album, Violence Dimension, landed in 2025. The lineup has shifted over time, with bassist David Ryley, known from Ungraven and formerly of Fudge Tunnel, coming aboard after longtime bassist Chris Fielding stepped away in 2023. Live, they have played everywhere from Maryland Deathfest to the legendary Roadburn Festival.
