About
Cor Bakker is a Dutch jazz pianist and musical director from Landsmeer, whose work spans vocal jazz and jazz pop. He leads his own band and has a clear affinity for theatrical, story driven performance. In the show De Gouden Jaren, he serves as musical leader alongside cabaret specialist Erik van Muiswinkel, guiding audiences through the musical, political and sporting landscape of the second half of the twentieth century. The programme weaves together archive footage, live music and storytelling, drawing on a repertoire that stretches from Annie M.G. Schmidt to Doe Maar. Bakker plays piano throughout and also co created the show, which suggests his role goes well beyond simply keeping time for the band.
