Ruth Jacott is probably best known to international audiences for representing the Netherlands at Eurovision 1993, where her song "Vrede" (Peace) landed her in sixth place out of 25 acts. But that contest was really just the launchpad. She had already built serious chops in musical theatre, with key roles in Dutch and German productions of Cats and A Night at the Cotton Club, touring the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland. After Eurovision, she released nine Dutch language albums, four of which cracked the Top Ten. Her second album "Hou me vast" went double platinum, and she picked up both the Zilveren Harp and later the Gouden Harp along the way. She has moved comfortably between pop and theatre ever since, playing Billie Holiday in a praised Dutch musical production and taking Latin flavoured shows through the Dutch theatre circuit. A 2014 album, "Ik adem je in", showed she could still pull in strong chart numbers, reaching number four in the Album Top 100.
