About
Also known as: Creepy Nuts (R-Shitei&DJ Matsunaga), Creepy Nuts (R指定 & DJ松永)
Creepy Nuts spent years building a loyal following in Japan's hip hop scene before 2024 turned them into a genuinely global act. The duo, R Shitei and DJ Matsunaga, broke through internationally with "Bling Bang Bang Born", the opening theme for the anime series Mashle: Magic and Muscles. The track took on a life of its own through the BBBB Dance internet challenge, topped the Billboard Japan Hot 100 for 19 non consecutive weeks, and peaked at number eight on the Billboard Global 200. It later earned diamond certification in Japan after surpassing 500 million streams, and a Gold certificate from the RIAA in the US. They kept the momentum going with "Otonoke", the opening theme for the anime Dandadan, which landed them a second number one on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 and a second RIAA Gold certification, making them the first Japanese act to pull that off twice. Before all the global attention, they had already racked up serious domestic credibility: their 2021 single "Nobishiro" was the first of their tracks to go platinum for streaming in Japan, and their third album Ensemble Play featured a collaboration with Ayase and Lilas Ikuta. They also hosted the legendary radio show All Night Nippon for several years.
