About
Also known as: Cut/Copy
Cut Copy started as a solo bedroom project for Melbourne's Dan Whitford back in 2001, but it didn't stay small for long. The band, rounded out by Tim Hoey on guitars, Ben Browning on bass, and Mitchell Scott on drums, blends synth pop, indie dance, and alternative dance into something that owes a clear debt to the likes of New Order, Daft Punk, and Pet Shop Boys without ever feeling like a tribute act. Their 2008 album In Ghost Colours was the real turning point, with singles like 'Lights & Music' and 'Hearts on Fire' becoming fixtures on dance floors around the world. The band has kept busy with releases and remixes ever since, and in 2025 they linked up with Kate Bollinger for the track 'Belong To You', showing they're still finding new directions.
