About
Dallas Burrow comes from New Braunfels, Texas, a small town between Austin and San Antonio with deep musical roots. His father, Mike Burrow, ran a club in Nashville in the 1970s where Townes Van Zandt, Richard Dobson and John Lomax III were regulars, and the four men reportedly became blood brothers after a wild night out. That mythology lives in Dallas's music, and he tends to share versions of it onstage. Raised on Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Willis Alan Ramsey and Billy Jo Shaver, his sound pulls together country, americana, Tex Mex and blues into something that feels thoroughly lived in. Burrow writes and sings in a rich baritone, and his songs lean autobiographical, raw and emotionally direct rather than polished. His album Blood Brothers charted in the americana rankings, and live he moves between traditional country, honky tonk and Tex Mex with a tight band behind him. Artists like Jeffrey Foucault, Ryan Bingham and Guy Clark are reasonable reference points if you're trying to place him.
