Dance With the Dead

About

Dance with the Dead is a Californian duo that mashes metal and synthwave into something properly dark. Justin Pointer and Tony Kim started the project in 2013, and the name came from a working title for their first song and a shared love of horror films. Dario Argento, John Carpenter and Hans Zimmer are all in the mix, and their tracks usually start life as jams, with riffs and samples getting passed back and forth. They are known for energetic live shows built around guitars and synths, with John Terry on drums when they hit the road. Loved to Death in 2018 was their first record on Neuropa Records, and they turn up in the 2019 synthwave documentary The Rise of the Synths. They have also remixed everything from Metallica to Daft Punk to Queen. More recently they have teamed up with Brandon Saller of Atreyu and with Gunship, and their album Malombra landed in 2026.
