Self described purveyors of "musketeer rock", dArtagnan are a German folk rock band from Nuremberg who blend modern rock with folk rhythms and lyrics built around themes of friendship, camaraderie and love of life. Their name nods to the Alexandre Dumas hero, and the band fully leans into the swashbuckling identity, right down to dressing as musketeers on stage. Formed in 2015, they hit the ground running: debut album Seit an Seit reached number 7 in Germany and also charted in Austria and Switzerland, produced by Thomas Heimann Trosien, who had previously worked with Nightwish and In Extremo. Since then they have kept a steady pace through six albums, collaborating along the way with Candice Night of Blackmore's Night on the Felsenfest track "We're Gonna Be Drinking", and teaming up with Patty Gurdy and a whole roster of German medieval and folk acts. Violinist Gustavo Strauss joined after the departure of founding guitarist Felix Fischer in 2017 and added another layer to their already instrument rich sound. Their 2024 album Herzblut, which includes a duet with Melissa Bonny, shows the band still pushing the format forward.
