Few tracks have had a cultural footprint quite like "Sandstorm". Darude, the Finnish DJ and producer born Toni Ville Virtanen, released the trance banger in late 1999 and watched it climb to number one in Finland for seventeen straight weeks, hit number three in the UK, and eventually move two million units worldwide. It became the world's biggest selling 12 inch single in 2000 and still turns up everywhere from sports arenas to video game soundtracks. His debut album Before the Storm shifted 800,000 copies globally, topped the Finnish album chart and landed at number six on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Follow up Rush performed respectably on both sides of the Atlantic, and his third record Label This! earned genuine praise for the single "In the Darkness". He co founded the EnMass Music label in 2011 and represented Finland at Eurovision 2019, teaming up with singer Sebastian Rejman on the track "Look Away".
