About
Also known as: John David Grissom
Texas blues guitarist David Grissom has built a reputation as one of the more versatile players in American rock and blues, logging serious time with Joe Ely and John Mellencamp before carving out his own solo career. He also co founded Storyville alongside Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton, the rhythm section from Stevie Ray Vaughan's Double Trouble, which gives you a sense of the circles he runs in. His signature PRS guitar, the DGT, came out of a 25 year working relationship with Paul Reed Smith and features custom pickups, coil taps, and a dual volume setup inspired by Jimmy Page's early Led Zeppelin tones. He has four solo albums to his name, the most recent being How It Feels to Fly from 2014, which mixes new studio material with live tracks and covers of the Allman Brothers' "Jessica" and ZZ Top's "Nasty Dogs And Funky Kings". Beyond his own records, he has played sessions and toured with Buddy Guy, Bob Dylan, and Chris Isaak among others, and keeps a visible presence sharing guitar content online.
