Few bands can claim a Billboard certified greatest rock song of all time, but Days of the New can. Their 1997 debut single "Touch, Peel and Stand" sat at number one on Billboard's Rock Chart for 17 weeks and was later named the Greatest of All Time Mainstream Rock Song by the publication. The Yellow album, as fans came to call it, sold 1.5 million copies worldwide and featured a lineup that would soon splinter, with three of its members going on to form Tantric. The band is essentially the ongoing project of vocalist and guitarist Travis Meeks, who has cycled through a rotating cast of collaborators including future Pussycat Dolls frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger, Alice in Chains bassist Mike Starr, and Train's Charlie Colin. Their three self titled albums, color coded Yellow, Green, and Red by fans to tell them apart, move between acoustic rock and post grunge textures. The Red album arrived just two weeks after the September 11 attacks and sold 90,000 copies despite minimal promotion.
