About
Dead Butterflies come out of Fort Worth, Texas, and they play what they describe as electronic screamo. The sound is an odd and effective mix: brass and piano sit right next to harsh vocals and heavy guitars, so the rough edges and the quieter, almost haunting stretches keep pulling against each other. The band works in the DIY emo revival lane, and the result feels familiar and current at the same time. Their sound crosses over several neighbouring styles too, touching on midwest emo, post rock, shoegaze and math rock, as well as softer territory like bedroom pop and ambient pop.
