Del Water Gap is the project of Samuel Holden Jaffe, a Brooklyn based musician and producer who nearly walked away from music entirely to become a CPA before a viral moment changed everything. In May 2020, actresses Margaret Qualley and Kaitlyn Dever posted a socially distant dance video to his song "Ode to a Conversation Stuck in Your Throat," sending it into the cultural stratosphere and eventually earning it a gold certification from the RIAA. Since then, Jaffe has been one of the more quietly busy figures in indie pop, co writing and producing tracks on Maggie Rogers's album Surrender, collaborating with Clairo and Arlo Parks on his 2023 album I Miss You Already + I Haven't Left Yet, and releasing a joint single with Holly Humberstone called "Cigarettes and Wine." His third studio album Chasing the Chimera, named after an Italian film by Alice Rohrwacher, arrived in late 2025 on Mom + Pop Music.
