Born out of Vancouver's industrial scene as a side project of Front Line Assembly, Delerium has spent decades shapeshifting from dark ambient soundscapes into lush electronic pop, all while keeping one foot firmly in the ethereal. The constant through all of it is Bill Leeb, who has steered the project through a parade of collaborators and guest vocalists. That approach paid off in a big way with "Silence", featuring Sarah McLachlan, which hit number three in the UK and became one of the most celebrated trance tracks ever made, partly thanks to remixes from Tiësto and Airscape that gave it a second life on radio. Since their 1994 album Semantic Spaces, Delerium has built a tradition of bringing in female guest vocalists, from Leigh Nash and Emily Haines to Lisa Gerrard and Nerina Pallot. The duo has picked up two Juno Awards for Best Dance Recording, for "Euphoria" and "Silence", and has kept releasing music across the decades, with albums stretching all the way through to 2023.
