About
Swedish rock band Diamond Dogs spent about a quarter of a century proving that 1970s rock never really had to go away. Formed in Katrineholm in the early 1990s by vocalist Sören 'Sulo' Karlsson and guitarist Anders 'Boba' Lindström, they went through plenty of lineup changes, pulling in players from bands like The Hellacopters, The Soundtrack Of Our Lives and Dogs D'Amour, but the sound stayed rooted in classic rock. They shared stages with Hanoi Rocks, The Damned, Nazareth, Georgia Satellites, Ian Hunter and The Cult, and did particularly well in Italy, where some shows drew crowds of up to ten thousand. Their catalogue runs from 1994's Honked through albums like Black River Road, Up the Rock and Set Fire to It All, plus a covers project, Cookin, built around the music of Sam Cooke. The band called it a day in 2015 after 25 years.
