About
Also known as: Diana Arbenina
Diana Arbenina is the driving force behind Russian rock group Nochnye Snaipery, which she co founded in 1993 and has led ever since. What sets her apart in the Russian rock scene is her ability to write and perform in both Russian and English, giving her music a reach that extends well beyond her home country. She picked up the prestigious Triumph Literature Prize, a nod to her work as a poet and lyricist as much as a musician, and she serves as an official Russian ambassador for both Gibson and the World Wildlife Fund. Her career has not been without friction. In 2014, her concerts in Russia were reportedly cancelled on Kremlin orders after she publicly expressed solidarity with Ukraine following the annexation of Crimea. That kind of willingness to take a stand has only added to her reputation as one of Russian rock's most uncompromising voices.
