With 18 number one singles to his name, Dierks Bentley is one of the most consistent hit makers in modern country music. He broke through in 2003 with his debut single "What Was I Thinkin'" hitting the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and his self titled debut album went Platinum not long after. His follow up Modern Day Drifter kept that streak going with two more chart toppers in "Come a Little Closer" and "Settle for a Slowdown". What makes Bentley interesting beyond the commercial track record is his genuine attachment to bluegrass. He spent years haunting Nashville venues like the Station Inn before breaking through, and that roots sensibility surfaces in albums like Up on the Ridge. He's put out ten studio albums in total, the most recent being Gravel and Gold in 2023, covering territory from straight up country to bluegrass to a bit of everything in between. He's also a member of the Grand Ole Opry, one of the younger artists to hold that spot.
