About
Also known as: Dilana, Dilana Jansen VanVüren, Dilana Jansen van Vuuren, Dilana Robichaux, Dilana Trudy Smith
At sixteen, Dilana Smith already had a number one hit with Dancing in the Moonlight, growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her band WOZANI brought her to the Netherlands in 1996, where she released her debut solo album Wonderfool. She moved to the United States in 2001 and made a serious impression on the TV competition Rock Star Supernova, where former members of Mötley Crüe, Metallica and Guns N' Roses were searching for a lead vocalist. Her second album Inside Out followed in 2009, and Beautiful Monster came out in 2013. A 2016 appearance on The Voice of Holland, where she performed a reggae take on Roxanne and turned all four chairs, introduced her to a whole new audience. These days Dilana performs with a full band, playing guitar and harmonica alongside her vocals. Her theater show Legendary Women of Rock toured successfully from 2023 onward, celebrating her rock heroines, and she followed it up with Legendary Men of Rock, reworking classics by Led Zeppelin, Queen, Golden Earring and Bryan Adams alongside her own original material. Raw, soulful and deeply expressive, she has a way of making every song feel like it belongs to her.
