Few bands have pulled off jazz fusion pop covers as convincingly as Dirty Loops. The Stockholm trio of Jonah Nilsson, Henrik Linder and Aron Mellergård built a serious following by taking songs like Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" and Justin Bieber's "Baby" and rebuilding them with dense jazz reharmonizations, gospel inflections and funky grooves that make the originals sound almost polite by comparison. Their debut album Loopified, released in 2014 on Verve Records with David Foster producing, translated that approach into original material. After a hiatus caused by creative differences, they came back strong, releasing new music in 2019 and then teaming up with guitarist Cory Wong for the collaborative album Turbo in 2021. The record, which includes tracks like "Follow the Light" and "Ring of Saturn", leans into the kind of tight, genre bending funk that both acts do best. Along the way, the band has opened for Maroon 5 across Asia and Oceania and backed David Foster on tour through several Asian countries.
