Few metal bands have matched Disturbed's consistency at the top of the charts. The Chicago quartet, built around vocalist David Draiman, guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren, and bassist John Moyer, has sold over 17 million records worldwide, with five of their eight studio albums debuting at number one on the Billboard 200. Their debut, The Sickness, remains a landmark of the genre, anchored by the inescapable "Down With the Sickness", and it has moved over four million copies in the US alone. After a hiatus that started in 2011, they came back swinging in 2015 with Immortalized, which also gave the world their haunting, stripped back cover of Simon and Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence". That cover became a genuine phenomenon, far beyond the usual metal audience. They kept the momentum going with Evolution in 2018 and Divisive in 2022, proving they have no interest in slowing down.
