About
Also known as: Dog eat dog
Dog Eat Dog were among the first bands to smash metal and rap together, years before it became a whole thing. The New Jersey crew grew out of the Mucky Pup scene in 1990, mixing hardcore punk with hip hop, funk and rock, and then threw a saxophone into the middle of it all, which became their calling card. Their 1993 debut EP Warrant was a cheeky jab at the band Warrant, who had released an album called Dog Eat Dog first. The real breakthrough came with the 1994 full length All Boro Kings, home to tracks like No Fronts, Who's the King and If These Are Good Times. Darryl Jenifer of the Bad Brains even turns up on Who's the King. A European run opening for Biohazard went down a storm, and the band has since built up five albums and two EPs.
