Best known for playing dual roles on Disney Channel's Liv and Maddie, Dove Cameron has spent years quietly building a pop identity that has little to do with her Disney past. Born Chloe Celeste Hosterman, she legally took the name Dove in honor of her late father. The shift from TV star to serious recording artist clicked into place with "Boyfriend", a sleek alternative pop single that cracked the US Billboard Hot 100 top 20 and went double platinum. That track led into her debut EP Alchemical: Volume 1 in 2023, the clearest statement yet of where her sound is headed. Before the solo work took off, Cameron had already put together an interesting musical CV. The Descendants soundtrack, which she contributed to heavily, hit number one on the Billboard 200, and her cover of "Genie in a Bottle" racked up 22 million YouTube views in under a month. She also had a brief run as one half of the duo The Girl and the Dreamcatcher alongside Ryan McCartan. More recently she has been active in the studio, with new material surfacing in 2025.
