Ecco2k, the alias of British Swedish artist Zak Arogundade, makes music that critics have described as "dissociation music", built around flutey, high falsetto vocals that sound less human and more like a pixelated sprite. He is a core member of Drain Gang, the collective he co founded in 2013 alongside Bladee, Thaiboy Digital and Whitearmor, and the four have been putting out some of the most distinctive cloud rap and hyperpop around since then. His surprise debut solo album E arrived in 2019, recorded across Stockholm, Berlin, Los Angeles, London and Bangkok, and it cemented his reputation as someone operating well outside the mainstream. In 2021 he dropped the EP PXE, which he produced entirely himself and paired with a full animated visual from artist Freddy Carrasco. The following year he and Bladee released the collaborative album Crest, recorded in the Swedish countryside, which landed on both Pitchfork and The Fader's year end lists. He also works as a fashion designer and served as creative director for Yung Lean, so the visual side of things is never an afterthought with him.
