Romanian producer and DJ Edward Maya essentially wrote the blueprint for a certain kind of euphoric European dance pop when "Stereo Love" exploded in 2009. The accordion laced track climbed to number two in Romania before becoming a genuine international phenomenon, landing in the top five in over a dozen countries including Germany, France, the UK and Sweden. Long before that breakthrough, he had already been shaping Romanian pop from behind the scenes, co writing the Eurovision 2006 entry "Tornerò" for Mihai Trăistariu. To keep creative control in his own hands he founded Mayavin Records, which also became a platform for other artists. His run of singles with vocalist Vika Jigulina, including "This Is My Life", "Desert Rain" and "Mono in Love", kept his deep house influenced sound in heavy rotation. More recently he has been releasing new material, collaborating with Syn Cole on "Life" and teaming up with Rolipso and Foínix on "Want It So Much".
