About
Named after the Tolkien inn from The Lord of the Rings, El Pony Pisador are a Barcelona group who throw Celtic music, sea shanties, habaneras, bluegrass, tarantella, yodel and even Tuvan throat singing into the same pot and somehow make it work. Their live shows lean hard into tavern culture, pirate lore, fantasy literature and comic book references, giving the whole thing a gloriously chaotic, festive energy. Since their debut album Yarr's i Trons! in 2016, they have played shanty and folk festivals across Europe, the US and Canada, and have kept pushing their sound further with each release. Their 2021 album JAJA Salu2 added more Catalan language material, and 2023 brought The Longest Pony, a collaborative album with Bristol outfit The Longest Johns. Most recently, their 2024 record Ocells is sung entirely in Catalan, with every track revolving around birds.
