About
El Ray are a Copenhagen band playing instrumental surf music, which isn't exactly the first place you'd look for it. They stick close to the classic surf sound but push it somewhere fresher, with catchy melodies, a shot of rock 'n' roll and a hint of indie. It's surf with a punked up edge and a respectful nod to the genre's history. The band has been playing live since 2001, with hundreds of shows across Denmark, the US, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Ireland, France, Switzerland and Austria. They have four albums, two 10 inch records and a pile of singles behind them. Those records were made through snowstorms, heatwaves and the pandemic, a long way from any Californian beach, and each album picked up good reviews.
