Soprano Elisa Maayeshi is a Dutch Iranian singer whose work sits at the intersection of classical vocal performance and music theatre. She has a particular connection to Francis Poulenc's one woman opera La voix humaine, a work she considers the pinnacle of music theatre, and pairs it with the poetry driven song cycle Clairières dans le ciel by Lili Boulanger. That combination says a lot about her artistic sensibility: emotionally intense, rooted in the French repertoire, and drawn to works where voice and drama are inseparable.
