About
Eliza Gilkyson has a knack for writing songs that land right in the middle of whatever is happening in the world. Her 2005 track "Requiem", written in response to the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, and "Man of God", a pointed commentary on the Bush administration, earned her three Austin Music Awards and four Folk Alliance Music Awards in the same year. Based in Taos, New Mexico, she blends folk, Americana and country into music that moves easily between intimate ballads and full throated protest. Gilkyson has been a fixture on Red House Records since 2000, picking up two Grammy nominations along the way, one for Land of Milk and Honey in 2004 and another for The Nocturne Diaries in 2014. She has kept a prolific pace throughout, collaborating with John Gorka and Lucy Kaplansky on the joint album Red Horse, and continuing to release records well into the 2020s, most recently Dark Ages in 2025.
