Few dance acts have managed to blend hip hop swagger, trance euphoria and genuine political weight the way Faithless have. Formed in London in 1995 around producer Rollo, DJ and keyboardist Sister Bliss, and rapper Maxi Jazz, the trio built a catalogue that stretches from the floor filling pulse of "Insomnia" to the anti war defiance of "Mass Destruction", a track whose lyrics were actually quoted in the US Senate. Their 2004 album No Roots debuted at number one in the UK and featured vocals from Dido and the late Nina Simone, while their Greatest Hits collection went four times platinum and was the best selling dance album of 2005. Faithless have headlined Glastonbury four times and been seen live by over a million people on a single tour. After Maxi Jazz departed in 2016, the remaining members kept the project going, releasing the reflective seventh album All Blessed in 2020, shaped around themes of immigration and empathy and featuring spoken word artists Suli Breaks and Caleb Femi. Their most recent album, Champion Sound, arrived in 2025, thirty years on from where it all started.
