Few artists can say their music appeared on Sesame Street and still kept their indie credibility intact, but Feist pulled it off. The Canadian singer and songwriter built her reputation through a pair of albums, Let It Die and The Reminder, that sold over 2.5 million copies combined and earned her four Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist. Her sound moves fluidly between folk warmth, chamber pop arrangements and something closer to electronic experimentation, and she carries it all with a voice that feels intimate even in large spaces. Beyond her solo work, Feist has been a key part of Broken Social Scene, the sprawling Toronto indie collective, contributing vocals across their records. She also collaborated with metal group Mastodon on a split EP in 2012, which tells you she never exactly stays in one lane. With six studio albums to her name as of 2023, and an official video for "Hiding Out in the Open" dropping that same year, she keeps finding new angles on her craft.
