About
FEMI makes alternative folk built around honest, personal lyrics. Her songs have layers to them, mixing classic and modern influences with stories drawn from her own life. She names Big Thief, Patrick Watson and Bob Dylan as inspirations, and you can hear that mix of old songwriting craft and a more current, restless sound in how she works. Her debut EP is called Deadline. She marked its release with a show in the upstairs room at Paradiso, which is a pretty serious way to launch a first record. If you like folk that leans into confession and atmosphere rather than polish, she is one to keep an eye on.
