FIDLAR's name says it all: Fuck It Dawg, Life's a Risk, a skate mantra the band lifted from singer Zac Carper's former roommates. The Los Angeles four piece built their reputation on short, loud, fast songs about drugs, drinking, surfing and skating, pulling from a lineage that includes the Ramones, Circle Jerks and Fear while folding in classic skate punk, thrash and lo fi surf rock. Pitchfork summed them up neatly back in 2013: not the most original band around, but that was never the point. Since their 2013 self titled debut they have put out four studio albums, most recently Surviving the Dream in 2024. Their songs have turned up everywhere from Grand Theft Auto V to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2, and their cover of Nick Cave's "Red Right Hand" opened a season of Peaky Blinders. Carper also keeps busy producing and co writing for acts like Dune Rats and The Frights, keeping the band firmly connected to the broader garage punk scene.
