About

Flunk hit the ground running with a cover of New Order's "Blue Monday" that got serious traction in the UK and landed on compilations across North America and Europe, all before most people even knew the band's name. The Oslo quartet, built around producer Ulf Nygaard, guitarist Jo Bakke, vocalist Anja Øyen Vister, and bassist Ole Kristian Wetten, deals in downtempo electronica with a dreamy, unhurried feel. Their debut album For Sleepyheads Only earned them a BBC Radio 1 session and a live debut at the Notting Hill Arts Club, a pretty sharp start for a band that began as a lo fi instrumental project. Over the years they have kept a steady output, taking in morning after trip hop, indietronica, and the occasional well chosen cover, including Radiohead's "Karma Police" on 2009's This Is What You Get. TV music supervisors have been fans too, placing Flunk tracks in The O.C., Numb3rs, Big Love, and The L Word among others. Their most recent album, History of Everything Ever, came out in 2021.
