Seven Latin Grammys in the bag and a government decoration from Colombia itself, Fonseca has built one of the more quietly impressive careers in Latin pop. Born Juan Fernando Fonseca Carrera in Bogotá, he blends vallenato, bullerengue, and tambora with pop and rock textures in a way that's distinctly Colombian without feeling folkloric for its own sake. His second album Corazón put him on the map internationally, with the single 'Te Mando Flores' cracking the US Latin top 10 and picking up a Latin Grammy on its own. His catalogue spans orchestral recordings with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia, collaborations with Juanes, Victor Manuelle, and Willie Colón, and the 2018 album Agustín, a personal project named after his youngest son that earned four Latin Grammy nominations and took home Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. More recently he released Viajante in 2022, featuring a varied lineup of guests including Silvestre Dangond, Greeicy, and Cimafunk.
