Fu Manchu have been flying the flag for stoner rock since their days as a hardcore punk outfit in Orange County, California, and they've built one of the genre's most durable catalogues along the way. Rooted in fuzz, muscle cars and wide open desert vibes, the band found their footing with No One Rides for Free in 1994 and never really looked back. Their association with the Palm Desert Scene, alongside Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age, cemented their place in heavy rock history, and years of touring with the likes of Marilyn Manson, Clutch and White Zombie turned them into a genuinely fearsome live act. The current lineup of Scott Hill, Brad Davis, Bob Balch and Scott Reeder has held steady since 2001, and the band shows no sign of slowing down. Their 2024 double album The Return of Tomorrow split across seven heavy fuzzy tracks and six mellower ones, which pretty much sums up the range Fu Manchu have always had. A new official video for King of the Road dropped in 2025, keeping things rolling.
