About
Also known as: G-DRAGON, G-드래곤, GD, 권지용, 지드래곤
G Dragon, born Kwon Ji yong, has been called the King of K pop, and the numbers back it up. He fronted BigBang, one of the best selling boy bands in the world, then built a solo career that kept breaking records. His 2009 debut Heartbreaker became the best selling album by a Korean soloist at the time, and by 2017 his Act III: M.O.T.T.E tour was the largest ever run by a Korean soloist. He has written or co written 24 number one songs on the Gaon Digital Chart, most of them co produced by him too. After twenty years at YG Entertainment he left in 2023 and signed to Galaxy Corporation under his real name. His third studio album, Übermensch, followed in 2025, led by the number one singles Home Sweet Home and Too Bad, and it took Album of the Year at the Melon Music Awards. Outside music, he's a fixture on fashion's influence lists, and South Korea even honored him with the Okgwan Order of Cultural Merit.
